Ramon L. Villongco, MBA - AAAB Chairman and 2012 Asian
Pacific American Heritage Month Overall Chair
Born in Manila, Philippines, Ramon came to the United States in 1982 and received his BA in Business Management at the Philippine School of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration at Dowling College, Oakdale, New York. Ramon is presently employed as the Assistant Director of Admissions at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM) of New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, New York. Ramon holds over 20 years of marketing /management experience and with over 15 years in college administration and enrollment services/admissions experience.
Ramon join the Advisory Board in 2006 and has been an active community leader in the Filipino-American community and was also a Board of Director of the TANGLAW Filipino-American Society of Long Island, Inc., Wellbrook Foundation, Inc. and the Sto Nino Prayer Group of Suffolk.

Akie Naito-Gearns - AAAB and Economic Development Co-Chair

Sunita Gupta, Ph.D.- Board Member& Recording Secretary
Sunita Gupta, originally from North India, completed her Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University in Biochemistry. She worked in Grenoble, France for three years. She has been living in the USA for the past eleven years and has worked as a Post doctoral fellow in prestigious institutions like SUNY, Stony Brook, Umass Medical Centre of Massachusetts, and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. She is currently working as a Sr. Research Scientist for Cornerstone Pharmaceuticals Inc.
Sunita has been a member of the All World Gayatri Pariwar (www.awgp.org), a spiritual organization from India, since her childhood. Besides science, her interests also lie in practicing yoga for better physical and mental fitness. She enjoys teaching the importance of yoga to others. She loves reading books written by great saints. Her favorite saint is Pandit Shri Ram Sharma Acharya, founder of the All World Gayatri Pariwar.

Jim Young, Ph.D. - Emeritus Chair (2007-2009)/ Treasurer
and 2012 Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Co-Chair
Dr. Jim Yih-Jin Young received his bachelor's degree from National Taiwan University. He came to the United States to obtain his master and Ph.D. from the University of Washington. He is currently a professor of sociology at Nassau Community College. He is the advisor of the Taiwanese American Association on Long Island (TAALI) and was the President of the TAALI in 2007 and vice President in 2006. He chairs the Suffolk County Asian American Advisory Board in 2007-2009.

Belinda Pagdanganan - Board Member & Community
and Government Relations Committee Chair
Bel holds a degree in MBA from Dowling College, a BA in Economics from the University of the Philippines, and is working towards a Masters degree in Environmental Technology from the New York Institute of Technology. Bel has over 20 years of management and field experience in emergency planning, disaster preparedness and response. She worked in emergency planning for the Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant and then focused on utility preparedness under the former LILCO/KeySpan Corporation. In 2005, Bel accepted the position as Suffolk County’s Director of Emergency Preparedness and later as Deputy Commissioner of Suffolk County’s Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services. She returned to National Grid (formerly KeySpan) in May 2008 as a Manager in Community and Government Relations.
Bel is a volunteer firefighter with the Brentwood Fire Department and currently holds the rank of Captain of their Fire Prevention Company. She is also a member of the Asian Leadership Association in National Grid.

Vera Hu-Hyneman - Board Member & Cultural Committee Chair
Born in central Taiwan, Vera Hu-Hyneman came to the United States in 1993 and received his Master of Science in Mathematics from Penn State University in 2002. She is married and has a fantastic 10-year-old son who likes baseball, snowball fights, science and video games.
Vera is a professor of mathematics at the Suffolk County Community Colleges Selden Campus, a past vice president and president of the Taiwanese American Association on Long Island and current director of The Little Dragons an after school (Saturday) Chinese Language program in the Middle Country School District.
Vera joined the advisory board in 2010.
Hue Anh Pham - Board Member & Economic Development Committe Chair
Hue Anh Pham was born in Vietnam. She holds a MBA from CW Post, Long Island University, New York. She is currently pursuing a Doctor’s Degree in Management with the University of Maryland. Pham is working with a National Scientific Research Institution in Long Island and teaching part time at a local college. Pham taught at a French school and held a variety of managerial positions in non-profit organizations.
Suolan Gao - Board Member & Cultural Committee Co-Chair
Suolan was born in China. She holds a Master’s Degree of Statistics from Renmin University, Beijing, China, and a Master’s Degree of Computer Science from the University of Bridgeport, CT, USA. Suolan had served Stony Brook Chinese School Board for two years. She’s enthusiastic, energetic and has great interest in various volunteer jobs. Suolan and her husband have been living in the United States for 16 years, they have two beautiful kids. She joined Advisory Board in 2010
Myung-Chue Kim - Board Member
Born in Seoul, Korea, Myung-chul Kim came to the United States in 1993 and studied graduate works in Applied Math and Math Education at Michigan State University. He is married and has two daughters who like playing piano and violin.
Myung-Chul taught math several years at Texas A&M University at Laredo and now he is a professor of mathematics at the Suffolk County Community Colleges Selden Campus. Myung-Chul joined the advisory board in 2006.
